Oh it absolutely will be good for it. I think you'll quite enjoy the stones and machete. The Arctic Fox scythe stone should do a very nice job of keeping a fine edge on it, though you may also want a coarser stone for removing damage. The Arctic Fox series stones are aimed at maintenance sharpening work as opposed to damage repair, and we all know how commonly machete use induces accidental edge impacts.
Thanks for the quick reply. I was hoping the coarse side of the puck would take care of the damage part. I also told her that little mini 4" 2-sided file.
The mini files won't be back in stock for 5-6 weeks, but they're quite handy little things. The 240 grit side of the puck is coarse enough to quickly erase marks from a coarse file and would be suitable for repairing minor damage, but I'd consider it a medium grit overall. Paired with a file you'd be well prepared.
Exactly what I was hoping for. Get some little files already! I figured between the file, puck, and stone I'd be ok. Might grab an abuse eraser also.
Well, it is basically shipping a brick, so... If you're just buying an American Mutt stone, it's possible to squeeze it in a small flat rate box. It's just not possible for the website to tell if an order will fit in a flat rate or not so you have to send us an email and have us check/bill you manually for it.
So @FortyTwoBlades how many other places are selling your AF pucks and sharpening stones? I saw Liam Hoffman is selling some with his branding on it. He calls them LH Arctic Fox pucks I'm just wondering who else has some of them. Are they your baby?
Liam is carrying them with his own logo, and Craig Roost of the Axe Junkies group on Facebook just had his shipment of Axe Junkies logo pucks land today. Other than them I don't have anyone else carrying them just yet, but Blue Ridge now has the Arctic Fox canoe-shaped scythe stones in stock for wholesale to retailers, and they'll be carrying more of our range of stones when they place their next order.
@FortyTwoBlades -- Got my stones today. Great size in hand. My son is getting one of the pucks as a stocking stuffer. And I have a brand new Council Tool Boys Axe just waiting to have an edge put on the blade. Came from my Secret Santa.
