I'll hang out and wait to see how this plays out. The designer says it shouldn't be expensive to produce. But will manufacturers try to gouge on price for the latest thing? I am also very curious to try it. I'm falling out of love with 1095 since I moved back into the Western NC rain forest. Apparently it requires more care to prevent rust than I have patience for. Or I am just a dipshit that hasn't figured out the right food safe treatment.
The CR Sebenza is already discontinued. The Creely is a preorder. Rumor is Spyderco will have something soon.
I'm digging this stuff so far, but would still be happy with my backup CPM154. CPM154 costs 2.5x as much as AEB-L and Magnacut costs 3x as much as AEB-L. Material cost is only a modest portion of knife cost. But of course if it requires different procedures, can't be batched with others, etc.... these things can drive up cost or drive down availability.
I see it as a matter of target markets and ESEE covering all spectrums of potential buyers. > 1095 Base model > S35/A2 - Upgrade > Magnacut-Premium. There are all different types of buyers with all different needs. At the end of the day, demand & how much is sold, will show what the customers want.
