Someone ask how it attaches to belt. I made a belt clip from kydex and incorporated a metal belt clip to give it strength and tension. Rides solid and tight to belt. 20161116_165834.jpg

Damn, we have some HEST connoisseurs in here! Great info. and pics. :)

I only have one - the HEST 2 (Assault) from LionSteel and it's a fantastic all-arounder! I'd love to have a Rowen/ESEE version, but I have too many damn fixed blades already. My HEST 2 is the main reason I don't have (or need) an ESEE3 - it fills that 3"-3.5" blade size perfectly, along with the added tools (bottle opener, prybar). Sits next to me in my truck every day and the factory edge is still razor sharp.

Glad to see you back Bill!

I've been curious about the hest original since I first joined the old forum, but never found a lot of discussion about it on there. Glad to see this thread, not that I "need" to want another knife but I do like some of the features on it.

I have a Hest Original that I have never used. So why do I have it? Because it is just a cool knife. Enough said. :)

Ok, I'll ask. Can someone explain that 90 degree spike on the butt/pommel?
What's it used for? Pry bar? New way to decap a beer?

I try not to overthink the pry bar and just use it for whatever...scraping, ripping open a box when too lazy to pull the blade out, cleaned out cement cracks one day. Whatever just gets in your way.

I used the prybar to dig up lots and lots of rocks in my sleeping area. It's the perfect tool to dig in the dirt cause you don't care if it gets worn.
