So I did a trade for a lightly used Junglas with the TKC g10 scales. The knife clicks in like it should but there is a lot of rattle from the blade area. Does anyone know how to tighten it up to stop the rattle? And I’ve already tried the little adjustment piece but that did no good.
Could heat it up with a heat gun and press in a few pressure points. This will make the sheath contact the blade and could rub on the finish however.
I agree. Heating and creating a point of contact should do the trick. Even just heating and pressing the base of the sheath so there’s contact with the tip of the blade may do it. Down and dirty: stick a bit of used plastic bag in the sheath and push it down all the way to the base. The goal is to have the tip of the knife resting in the inserted plastic bag while sheathed. This will keep it from rattling, but may hold in a bit of moisture if the blade gets wet (rust possible). Worked for one of my ESEE 3’s though. YMMV
I've found better results with a propane torch very carefully .. or putting it in the toaster over when the woman's not home
Hair dryer might not get hot enough, depends on the dryer and how thick the sheath is. Kydex usually starts to get pliable around 180f or so depending on thickness, a torch or stove burner (hold just close enough to heat) may give better results. I have used a little butane torch in a pinch, you just have to be careful not to scorch the material.
