Fatwood dust made easy

    Shaved off a big pile of fatwood shavings, let them dry out a bit for a few days then used my blade coffee grinder to turn them into dust.

    the aroma is incredible :)

    you can pack about 3 cups worth into a round pipe tobacco tin. Triple the amount compared to regular shavings, and they take a spark very well.

    Making more shavings with my Bark River Pocket Bowie Knife and some primo Grade A local fat wood harvested a few years ago.

    its VERY comfortable in the hand, and the A2 steel strops SCALPING sharp

    I'm hoping to find its bigger brother - the 1909 Michigan Bowie with Moran handle

    I used one of these stupid Smiths tinder makers and it took forever to get enough to fill a small baggie. Definitely need to try your method.

    It’s called the Smiths pack pal. I got mine from Amazon but you can find them elsewhere also.
