Seneca Creek Backcountry - Spruce Knob, WV - Canaan Valley

    This weekend I went hiking up around Spruce Knob, WV (Highest point in the state) in the Seneca Creek Backcountry. I was looking for an old plane crash. About 15 Miles total.

    Most of the trail was an old logging railroad grade.

    In 1973, a 1967 PA-23 Piper Apache plane crashed. Killing 2 people on board. Located about 100 yds off of Lumberjack Trail.

    I also went up to Spruce Knob, highest point in WV at 4,863 ft.

    Stopped at the 23-acre Spruce Knob Lake. Highest lake in WV at 3,840 ft.
