    Thought of the day!

The Insanity of the W Mart…

I needed a new camp stove for a upcoming outdoor class.

The cheapest camp stove I could find was a store brand (OZ Trail) it was $100….. I Had to wait a few weeks to save some $$ and went back to buy it.

The day I went back to buy the camp stove I found a brand new unopened nice Colman brand stove on clearance for $75!!

About 2 weeks later now I went back to the W Mart to try and buy some ammo.

AND on a end cap display I find the EXACT stove I bought 2 weeks ago for $75 now back to the regular price of $135 dollar..

I asked and apparently the have to Clearance “last seasons” items and clear the shelves before they put out “this seasons” merchandise…

I’m just going to take my $60 dollars in saving and walk away shaking my head…

    Oh….. W Mart…….

    They aren’t hurting one bit.
Workers in their stores are largely poor and underpaid.
Meanwhile they are building an insane new corporate campus. It’s huge.

The really interesting part for me is how inconsistent their pricing is between stores. We've found that 1 specific store thats about 15 minutes away from us has a really weird habit of placing clearance items in the outside lawn and garden part of their store so whenever we want something seasonal we can almost certainly find it there dirt cheap because no one knows where to look for their stuff. I got a nice weber genesis grill there 2 years ago for $240 down from 500+.

My .357 pellet rifle should be here tuesday. I have to decide what optic I want to put on it and what casting molds I want to order for it. I also have a new Makita 36v pole paw coming tomorrow, so I am going to have some work to do.

    This thing is a beast. That's a 82 grain .357 pellet moving 1118 & 1071fps. Those were shots 7 and 8, the first 6 were supersonic.

Changed out the spark plug and carburetor on dads Stihl handheld blower today.

First, struggled to find a wrench that would fit around the spark plug to remove it. There is barely any clearance. Socket won’t fit, had to use a box end wrench to do it.
Second, had to basically disassemble the thing to remove the carb. No clearance there either.

I have an Echo brand, and everything on it is completely accessible without having to take a bunch of stuff off first.

Didn’t matter anyway, because once we got everything put back together the pull cord snapped in half after just a few pulls.

Oh well. It was spitting gas out the front anyway.
    Probably just replace it.
    With an Echo.
