Nailed it. I wouldn't mind a 460, but the price jump is significant. I'm hoping for a relatively low mileage 470 without the oddly shaped factory navigation so that I can upgrade to a more current system.
Two plus a tubeless repair kit here where it matters On a long trip I may also throw a tube in , just in case I can't bung the damage up well enough. I don't think you have anywhere except Alaska that is "remote" anyway so you could probably get away with one of those donut ring spares.....
I actually drive the GX460. (aka Prado 150) 4.6L V8 with timing chain (no belt to change) and a little more power/better mpg
I'm embarrassed to even say what I drive these days - a Dacia Duster 4x4. It's an OK car and surprisingly good on snow and soft off-road but it's not a car you love to drive. I lifted it 2", put a bit bigger AT's and remapped it to staggering 140HP My last one was Suzuki Jimny and boy-oh-boy I loved it! 3" sport lift, 31 MT's on modular wheels, two seater with reworked trunk, winches and many more custom parts. Such a fun car to drive and crazy reliable, never a problem with it.
Oh gotcha. For some reason, I thought yours was a 470. Is it from the first few years of the 460s, before the huge grill?
What I would do for Jimny here in the US! Those are some crazy capable and very cool looking rigs. It would be perfect for tight trails here in the Eastern US.
Riding my BMW r1200GS when I can! Taking the long way back from Wilderness Week in NC Sampling some of the TaT (Trans America Trail) Lake Weiss on the commute to RAT Home base in Gallant Reliance TN Hiwasse River (TaT route) Old General store on my commute to RAT Rolling heavy with camping and technical gear Full technical/camping load out... Riding with my sons is a favorite pass time... Jackson has a Vstrom and Parker a Bonneville
They're really popular in Europe and great for tight forrest trails we got here. A bit low on space and hard do put anything with antlers in it but capable little off-roaders and can take a beating. Easy to modify too.
I would love to have such a Dacia. New ones are expensive for us here, but used ones can be had at a very good price.
Yeah, new ones are no longer budget cars and I actually prefer older model (mine is 2017) because it's so easy to clean inside (leather and plastic). Again, it's an OK car and I'm happy with it but is's not a car I love to drive.
