    Anyone mess with any of the newer battery operated saws? I need something for clearing bike single track and am considering trying one out.

    My buddy has the kobalt. I believe it's 40 volt? Does fine with smaller stuff. Anything big is a drain on the battery. But for trail clearing and cutting dropped limbs it works fine.

    I see a hydraulic fitting.

    I have the hyper tough 40v chainsaw and 20v pole saw from Walmart. They get the job done, I mainly use them for maintaining the horse trails. They're kind of low on power but they are convenient. I'm sure some of the other brands have more power. I bought the pole saw first and it worked well enough that I bought the chainsaw.

    I don't know what Stihl chainsaws I use but they get used a bunch. A polesaw. A 18 inch chainsaw and one that is much longer. High winds yesterday and many reports of downed trees so I'll have to go and inspect the range. Hopefully I will find nothing.

    I keep a Stihl on the farm but I picked up an Oregon electric with the 60V battery for my yard in town and I'm loving it. Only a 16" bar but its got a self-sharpening feature that works well. Pretty skookum little saw for light work but I recommend the 60V battery and fast charger option.

    I don't think I'll ever use my gas saws again.

    @Zeek
    How many batteries did you have to use?
    I bought my day a Ryobi if I remember correctly electric chainsaw. Even his “larger” capacity batteries I think would make maybe 2 cuts through those trees.

    I bought a small Ryobi Gas chainsaw just before our last hurricane and it’s a beast. Went all around the neighborhood cutting up trees in the road. Used it from sun up to sunset and did not have any problems.
    And it fit nicely on the back of my moped/ scooter as it was the only vehicle that could get around the neighborhood :)

    It's a 56V 5Ah battery. Took a full charge and about half of a second.
