Man that’s an understatement!!! I bought my aero precision receiver set then took almost two years researching to make sure what I went with was compatible and buying parts as they came on sale. I ended up staying with all aero precision/Ballistic advantage parts, but it’s not had any cycling issues with M118LR.
So here's something you don't see every day. These are all Glock 17's that have conversion barrels to use Simmunitions or other training/marking rounds. I'm pretty sure that the top two are Gen1's and the bottom two are Gen2's. We have other, dedicated Sim guns, but these were pulled out of a storage trailer today and cleaned up. They had been forgotten about for over a decade.
Yep a couple of Gen1s there at the top. I shot the absolute bejesus out of my Gen 1 from 88 to 2002.....only cleaned it properly once in that time I think.
Been using this Maryland Gun Works tool for Glocks all morning. Replaced OEM sights with Trijicon HD's on two of mine and two others for a buddy. I've used other pushers and also done it with a small mallet and drift. This thing makes life easy.
Nice tool! I also want to change the sights of my Glock. I like the shape of the stock plastic ones and I'm thinking about getting the factory metal night sights (tritium). Any experience with them?
I've never owned one that came with the factory night sights. But I've shot or handled several. I would trust them on a carry gun. Just like the weapon itself they are functional, reliable, and rugged IMO. Here in the USA they are offered with Glock factory tritium or the Ameriglo Bold tritium sights. I like the Ameriglo sights just a little more than the OEM night sights because of the orange front dot. If the cost is relatively the same I prefer the Ameriglo. If not the factory night sights are perfectly fine to me.
Thanks man, it is. I saved some cash years ago and winged it on my first carry gun. Trying to save a buck, but also being really impatient got my slide a little knicked up. You live and you learn.
Have a good friend that is a gunsmith. I have spent many an hour watching him change sights etc. He and another friend are also machinists. I've seen them work wonders on guns.
Here the factory ones are roughly 1/2 the price of most other night sights. The Glocks here are sold with less things For example my 45 is with 2 mags and plastic sights and the price was almost 1000$. I want the sights just for carry, won't do any competition etc., just need something reliable for low visibility situations. Thanks for the input!
I have used the factory night sights (front only with a steel rear) for years and have no issues at all.
Do you know if gen4 and gen5 are using the same sights? I can't find such info. My rear sight is 6.1 mm but have no markings on the front one, still I see two sizes of the front sight on Glock's website
I really wanted an older gen3 17, but finding one that hasn't been shot much is hard here, no one is letting theirs go. From what I've read they seem to be the most durable ones.
