They're so great! Old school LMF scales. I was sad to see that he's not making them anymore. I really like them. Love this blade so much. It's been all over Arizona with me - Phoenix, Prescott, Payson, Flagstaff, Sedona... made lots of fires in the woods and the back yard.
It may just look like a regular old 6, but it's a prequel of what's to come to it. Two toned as of now.
I love the knife. I am not pleased with the newly re-designed molle backer handle strap that I recently ordered direct from ESEE. I first ordered from Amazon, because they had quicker shipping and I wanted to take my new knife on a trip. But when I received it, I thought the molle backer handle strap design was so poor it had to be a Counterfeit from Prime Valley. I sent my whole ESEE Amazon order back and took a different knife on my trip. When I received the exact thing directly from ESEE, I couldn't believe it. I emailed ESEE about it since their photo still shows the old design, which at the time, confirmed my Counterfeit suspicions. They really need to update that photo btw. Mike said they are sending me a snap to replace this hideous sliding snap, finding an installer is on me... OK. I was told this design was to accommodate other knives. I am assuming the much thicker ESEE 5. It looks like they also dropped the fall away strap pivot point, which I have on the Junglas sheath. That was a nice feature, definitely a step backward in my opinion. The fall away strap on the Junglas has an adjustable velcro section, not sure if the older ESEE 6 molle backer was the same. But it did make me question the sliding snap design even more. I bought a snap installation kit from Sailrite if anyone is interested. Overall, I'm not that excited that I had to spend another $40 just to add a handle strap snap button. Plus my time researching how to install, finding a quality installation kit, repackaging Amazon, driving to the post office. Not the best experience ESEE.
The sliding strap looks very strange indeed. Is this the jump proof feature, I can't see it being used in any regular situation where the knife might need to be used. Edit - my bad, I missed the second picture. So it is a strap that can be adjusted for the 5 and 6. It looks alright, I thought that it is actually a belt buckle at first
In my original email, I had asked if I could send the molle backer to them and have them install a snap, which Mike didn't even address. I believe he just skimmed my email and did not read it correctly. As he stated, he misread and thought I wanted a refund. Mike let me know I wouldn't be able to refund my purchase because of a design issue, even though their photo is wrong. But I didn't ask for a refund. I just wanted to send it in to have one snap installed. Since I don't know how to install snaps, I don't have the tools to install a snap or a matching snap. I asked if I could purchase one or they could send me one since he didn't even address my original question. Mike agreed to send a snap my way at no charge. So if any of you need a snap installed, I need to recoup my losses. I own my own business (23yrs) and it blows my mind with the internet age how a small request could turn a glowing review and very cheap advertising into a negative experience.
