Hello Guys, Finally registered on the new forum. Attached are a few pics from my most recent trip. We went to the Tankwa Karoo Park. As you can see this is a very dry and arid region in South Africa, but man is it beautiful. It's spring time here, so not too hot and not too cold. In the winter it can get below freezing and in the summer temperatures of 122F is often recorded. Luckily this time of the year days are moderate and nights are cool. Animals include: Red Hartebeest, Gemsbok, Springbok, eland, Zebra and smaller mammals & predators. On the way there First camping spot On our way to the next spot. 4x4 route we did last camping spot some weird plants and flowers Hope you enjoyed the pics.
Beautiful shots, thanks for sharing! What's that cooking on the oil drum?! I can't quite make it out on my phone! (Edit: just zoomed in and seen it's just a fire! Doh!)
Great pics. Love the lighting on this one. http://s1299.photobucket.com/user/malman3/media/IMG_2858_zpsyl1mjmtr.jpg.html Are there a lot of such places to explore in SA?
Cool shots, some really interesting plants. I'd love to bum around in south Africa one day, but 122 degrees....I think it would have to be winter time
I was thinking the same thing. Impressive, yet brutal. I'd hate to step on that thing in the middle of the night while going to take a leak.
So.. is it hot or cold. It looks in the pictures like its 120 degrees but you are wearing a sweatshirt..
This was early spring and temps varied from night 50 degrees to mid-day 75 degrees. That pic was taken on a hill and the wind was icy. In mid summer temps can reach 120. There is no way I would visit this area in mid summer.
