I was up in that area, and I'm pretty sure I saw that exact tan Sprinter. They're a very flexible platform depending on your rig needs. You can either have a ton of safe and dry storage for gear, or a small apartment inside.

Such a van would be a dream come true for mountain biking indeed. You can carry all your stuff inside and sleep in it, not worrying about the weather at all.

I'm not even going to lie. I would totally drive a late 80's Samauri. Combine overlanding with ultralight backpacking.

Yeah, I've had a lot of fun in Trackers like this one as well as Samurais.
You don't have to go ultralight, you just have to avoid the "buy all the latest gear and bring everything you own" mentality that seems to define modern "overlanding".

Many decades of folks had a lot of fun and plenty of room in Samurais, Jeep Flatfenders, CJs, YJs and TJs as well as other small vehicles. They have plenty of space for two people and gear for anyone looking to have fun.

Back around 2000 some friends and I did a loop that encompasses parts of what have become the Georgia Traverse and NC/Tennessee section of the TAT. There were two Samurais with us, a Tracker like the ChikfilA one above, a YJ and a fairy new Kia Sportage. Nothing had lockers or tires over 32" (I think, one of the Suzukis may have had 33"). A couple of HiLifts and shovels and a small assortment of hand tools.

Two people per vehicle and no one had more than a duffle bag or backpack with them. We were just looking for adventure, though. Not trying to build a brand or look trendy on the internet.

    It was a great time.

Very true, and a lot of folks totally ignore gross vehicle weight. That sounds like a great trip.

I'd be shocked if 20% of drivers know what GVWR means. And maybe 1% know what it is for their vehicle or where to find it.

It has wheels and enough space for an RTT; definitely could be an overlander.
Plenty of room for patches on the headliner and a drone will fit in the back.

Seriously though, you could camp out of it and it'll likely go 90% of the places that people take their built rigs so...
And with the gullwing doors you don't even need an awning!

Perhaps these are buried somewhere back. We saw these on our trip in and around Alaska 2019.
But hey who can get enough of overland/badass rigs. Some of these folks were on North and South America trips.

And Us. Dawson Creek and the beginning of the Alaska Highway. What an awesome trip.
