This, but to be fair it has very little to do with the virus.

Went grocery shopping this morning with the bride.

Business as usual in Northeast Pennsylvania.
No signs of panic. Wouldn’t know, if you didn’t know

Store shelves well stocked. Prices as normal,
    Folks calm and well mannered.

    My sentiments exactly!

That’s been my experience here in south Louisiana. Nobody freaking out. I didn’t see it myself, but heard our local Lowe’s was out of hand sanitizer but that can be effected by their supply chain being low and not local purchases.

Ditto! Most folks that don’t really know me well can’t understand how I live so close to New Orleans and NEVER go there. Other than some awesome architecture and the zoo/aquarium it’s the perfect example of everything I strive to avoid.

Today I decided JIK to take inventory of what cleaning and sanitation supplies I truly have on hand. I am probably not the only one who stores cleaners and supplies in a couple different locations/ under sinks/ different bathrooms etc.
Brought it all to one spot and I have a decent amount of different products and cleaning supplies already as I though I did.

Def spotted a few spots Thou I could stock up on. Was almost completly out of bleach. Needed to replace some scrub brushes and needed a new spray bottle.

SO I decided to hit up the store real quick and move on.
#1 almost all the rubbing alcohol was gone. (Home made hand sanitizer ingredient)
#2 ALL the digestible aloe Vera was gone (From what I understand the WRONG type of Aloe) :)
#3 Most of the big packs of TP and paper towels were gone. But still plenty of less quantity packages left. The amount missing was DEF noticeable.
#4 almost all the “natural” and “safer” cleaning supplies where gone. BUT plenty of the stronger chemicals that are supposed to be strong enough.

Used the list from the EPA/ CDC that they have said is strong enough to kill Coronaviruses and picked up enough to last me the rest of a normal year. (Bottle of toilet cleaner and a bottle of Bathroom spray cleaner per 60 days. And 2x Clorox wipe packs on average per month.) So 4 bottles 4 bottles , 4-4packs of wipes. As I know I should use them by the end of the year its just like going to a Bulk store for me.

These are the type of small preps/ steps IMO people should be doing. Not buying crazy.

    Simple small steps =good
    Panic buying = BAD...

AND & SO I moved on with my day :)

Agreed, I plan on fishing as much as possible.

But I also work retail, so that really sucks.

I just don't get the toilet paper run. Why does the majority in the city feel we will face a toilet paper shortage?

What i mean is why will that supply run out? Does China make it all in Wuhan and therefore we would face a shortage?

I just hope Walmart does not run out of their Equate nicotine lozenges in cherry flavor 2 mg. I'll probably end up in prison if they do.

A serious answer to this question: I believe the concern is that either people will not want to go out to potentially “expose themselves” to the virus for something as simple as TP. OR if people did go out that the supply system could be “impaired” and not able to get the TP to the store.

That said TP would be pretty low on what I would stock up on. There are plenty of things to wipe your butt :)

    @Strigidae
I ran into this article after responding.

    To summarize from the article

    “Reason 1
People resort to extremes when they hear conflicting messages

    Reason 2
Some are reacting to the lack of a clear direction from officials

    Reason 3
    Panic buying begets panic buying

    Reason 4
It's natural to want to over prepare

    Reason 5
It allows some to feel a sense of control”
