I got this hiking GPS device today - Gramin Gpsmap 66st - with a full topo map of the country, with lifetime updates. The guys that made and support the map are the Garmin dealer here and they can pre-install it by request, for a small fee. Really great map with many mountain routes, hiking trails, peaks, huts etc. Also has an offroad map for 4x4
Also ordered 4 black Eneloops for it and will get some lithium AA for winter backup.
I can't wait to test it.

Beer goggles would be my choice too, in 3 and a half hours, when my night shift ends

I ordered a rubber case and a screen protector for the GPS :D
I do not care if I break a mobile phone, but this precious device needs protection, even though it should be pretty bombproof

...... it's sitting at my best friends place, paperwork to transfer it to me needs to be done but yes, it's mine (well sort of a foster as we told the other friend that owns it, he can have it or any of the other five he decided to get rid of, back anytime he wants). He also would not let us pay the storage/transfer fees.

    Some update on the axe.

    This thing is AMAZING !!!
It is relatively small in size, but the balance and the geometry of the head make for a wicked splitting axe! It really works like a larger one. I can split rounds that are 20-25 cm in diameter without any issues and the wood we buy for winter is hard and knotty beach - it can literally break most knives if you decide to baton a nastier, larger piece - axe territory only.

It will never replace my large Fiskars for splitting the firewood, as I use it for any size of log, up to 60-70 cm in diameter, but this thing is amazing for smaller stuff and for car camping, it is a must have - combined with a chopping axe and a folding saw you have a trio that is insanely capable of providing firewood.

This thing splits pieces of wood that I couldn't dreamed of splitting with a quite larger Husqvarna chopping axe, due to the thinner head of chopping axe.

This thing is one of my best purchases so far. I am extremely happy with it and for the price I got it, there is really nothing that can match it.

Finally decided to get this one after Bushcraft class.

Additionally I asked “Ed” at Bushcraft what one book he would recommend for wild edibles? He said there was 3.. So I could justify 2 for now. ( The additional one was “ Weeds of the South (Wormsloe Foundation Nature Book) But at nearly $50 even on @mazon I’ll pass for now.

    And

And lastly after repeated saw failures o decided to get a Silky saw. The fast cut longest one. (Longest red handled one below. )

Is that Silky a Pocketboy 170/8 ? I just ordered a Gomboy 240/10 and it should arrive tomorrow.
Nice book choice! The Kochanski book + Kephart's Woodcraft and the new Kevin Estella book are on my Christmas list.

    @Bozho
It’s the PocketBoy 170 in Course cut. I am not sure what the 7 is..
I tried a couple different saws over the weekend and it worked best for me.

170/8 stands for 170 mm blade/ 8 teeth per 3 cm of blade - at least this is how they sell them here.
