I had a guy from Austria email me a little while ago about a knife I had for sale on
    bladeforums.

I tried to look his email address up but pretty much found nothing.

He said it would cost $60.00 to ship to Austria which he would cover.

    What do you guys think?

He’s willing to send the payment using friends and family. Would that protect me?

How big is the knife ? $60 is quite expensive unless you are using USPS Express International or the like (ie two large Busses send here express costs $80US). F&F will cover from the view of him lodging a PayPal claim but if he uses his credit card to fund the transaction he can claim that anyway.

My simple answer is that if you are concerned for whatever reason don't do it. As you are aware i have had literally 100s of international (mostly the US to here) knife transaction and never had an issue. But it goes mostly to the honesty of the parties involved.

Does he have a history on BF ? Does he participate in anything but Buy/Sell on that forum ? Do you have any gauge of the man you are dealing with ? See where I am going.

he is not a user on bladeforums. And I can’t check out his profile because I’m not a member there and don’t understand the language to be able to sign up anyway. LoL

Only you can decide mate, how much is the knife worth ? Bearing in mind the value doubles at least once it arrives in Europe so while the shipping and such may not seem logical to us it may still be viable to him.

Only you can decide if the sale is worth the risk of losing a $300knife.

I really need the money but no it’s not worth the risk.

    Thanks for your help.
