I know about the amounts already and using the cap. What I’m asking is if you need to remove the cotton ball that is beneath the lid first and soak the padding underneath or if you soak the cotton ball?

you guys only put in two cap-fulls? I managed to get in half a shot glass of lighter fluid...........compressed the cotton and added two more cotton balls....then filled it FULL.

    works awesome.

I have only one gripe about the titanlight. I would prefer that the cap could be tethered to the body. Fixed that problem with a Ranger band from @5col

    Titanlight hack!

get one of those 7/16" round x 1/4" thick WOOL felt furniture leg floor protectors, tamp it into the lighter cap. Overfill your lighter with lighter fluid. Let the wool get soaked with lighter fluid.

in the field, remove the cap, light the wool and you have a secondary flame that burns about 45 seconds.

Is there a place to store an extra flint that i havent seen? My trip out west the flint got stuck or something and the wheel was free spinning. Thought the flint was bad but it wasnt. That got me thinking about storing a flint somewhere. Any suggestions?

I've seen people store them in the fuel compartment but they tend to rattle around in there.

I wondered about that. The fuel doesn't eat them or anything?

I'm sure sooner or later they will degrade but they are coated just like a normal ferro rod so that could offer some protection,

That's what I always did with for my old Zippos, they'd get used before any signs of deterioration. Cotton ball will take care of rattle and source of backup tinder.
