    The crazy part about the interior where I’m located is that if I drive 30 minutes east, I’m in an interior rainforest that is no different than the PNW. The only one of its kind.

    STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
    DESCRIPTION OF HISTORIC PLACE

    Fort McLeod National Historic Site of Canada is located on the west bank of Pack River at the north end of McLeod Lake, British Columbia. The site, set in the provincial heritage site, Fort McLeod Historic Park, consists of a workshop, a house, and a warehouse, which are situated within the fenced area of the fort. The small wooden buildings are topped with gable roof, and are simply constructed. Official recognition refers to the fenced area around the fort at the time of designation.

    HERITAGE VALUE
    Fort McLeod was designated as a National Historic Site of Canada in 1953 because:
    - founded in 1805, it was the site of the first fur-trading post built by the North West Company west of the Rocky Mountains.

    By the early 19th century, the fur trade was expanding westward over the Rocky Mountains to the Pacific Ocean, and the North West Company found itself increasingly threatened by the Hudson’s Bay Company and American fur traders. As a result, in 1805, Simon Fraser of the North West Company led an expedition westward from Fort William on Lake Superior to secure the fur trade for the company on the west side of the Rocky Mountains. This newly discovered area was named New Caledonia.

    Fraser sent a group of men up the Pack River to build a stockaded log fort at Trout Lake, which was later named Fort McLeod in honour of Archibald Norman, a senior North West Company partner. Fort McLeod became the base of the company’s fur trading operations in New Caledonia, and was the only liaison between the two sides of the Rocky Mountains for two decades. After the amalgamation of the North West and Hudson’s Bay companies in 1821, the fort remained an active trading post into the 20th century.

    CHARACTER-DEFINING ELEMENTS
    Key elements that contribute to the heritage character of the site include:
    - its location on the west bank of the Pack River at the north end of McLeod Lake, British Columbia;
    - the small, rectangular massing of the buildings, clad with wood siding and topped with gable roof;
    - the simple, unadorned façades, pierced with multiple windows;
    - the integrity of any surviving or as yet unidentified archaeological remains which may be found within the site in their original placement and extent;
    - viewscapes from the site across Pack River.

    A few pictures from Saturday. Nothing extravagant.

    This is one of the best knives I’ve ever had. Incredible cutting power due to the recurved blade, and the steel is resilient and tough.

    Classy looking blade. Unbreakable without the use of a cheater.

    huge shout out to Brother @Se7eN , I'm not a people person....takes a LOT for me to meet and interact with people. Its often negative, like at work......everyday. ...

    Bro and I met up for our recent hike.........for once i felt normal.

    I hike solo not because I have no friends or hiking bros, i have many. ....but because I am extremely socially awkward and my style borders on extreme.......not a lot of people can handle that....

    . Being an Aspie its hard to make friends , meet new people, etc. I have routines I follow daily, be it with people or by myself. 95% of people get weirded out by those routines. It hurts pretty bad, seeing their expressions of disgust and non understanding

    was awesome to just be normal when Bro @Se7eN was in town.

    thanks Man....

    Anytime brother @Bushman5 . I felt normal when we hung out too. People just don’t understand people like us.

    Routine is hugely important to me too. Makes all the difference!

    Being unique is a gift, not a curse.

    I was really glad we finally got to hang out. That was just the beginning though. There is a hell of a lot more where that came from!

    You are the kind of person that I know would have my back no matter what, in any situation.

    You’re not alone man!

    Teaser pictures from the trip I’m on right now.

    Checking in daily with brother @Bushman5 for safety reasons. Two potential murderers on the loose making fools out of the RCMP and Canadian Military.

    Bro 7 is at an undisclosed location, but has networked very well with the other campers in the area. Everyone camping in the area is on high alert 24/7, including a lot of hunting dogs and family dogs. People are having fun enjoying the area,including camping, home cooked meals over the campfires, fishing, hunting, hiking, boating, swimming etc, but there is like 100 people in the lake/camp that are on very high alert and vigilance, due to the manhunt here in Canada. The entire regions population is very stressed due to town lockdown's, curfews, and insane amounts of RCMP, Police, Peace Officers, Tribal Police, Bear Clan Patrol members, Military Police, Military Reg Force, FBI and Trackers in the area. Lots of police/military choppers, aircraft, vehicles and personnel rapidly moving thru out the region.

    this might just be the largest manhunt in Canada yet.

    Haven’t really posted a whole lot lately. Been super busy and most importantly, out in the bush.

    The recent manhunt in Canada has a lot of folks pretty uncomfortable when out in the bush in areas that take time to access. Played things pretty low key, but my head was on a swivel the entire time.

    I was checking in regularly with @Bushman5 throughout the various trips I was on.

    Anyway, enjoy the pictures!

    This time of year the forest floor is completely covered in dense under brush. Loads of mosquitoes and black flies.

    Will identify later.
