Scrapple would be my vote for PA as well, but there's many choices. Whoopie pies, chicken pot pie is different here than anywhere else, oh...

And who can forget that Bethlehem, PA is the manufacturer of the worse food on Earth...

Cheesteaks, Tastykake (although you can get them anywhere now), and wooder ice.

Also lots of pretzels and chips come from PA, right? Utz and Herr’s if I remember.

I thought that you Canadians ate some "different" food when I heard about Poutine. Then I found out that you eat Ketchup flavored Lays Potato chips! upload_2019-6-2_7-54-2.jpeg

Rice with tomatoes, wine, and pecan pie.

Seriously. Look up our official foods here in the Natural State.

Pecan pie should be required by Congress to be everyone's official state food.

    Poutine is a Quebec thing.....

Although you can get it pretty much everywhere, it’s usually covered in cheese rather than cheese curds

Illinois has a state snack food, which is popcorn. The Gold Rush apple is the state fruit. State vegetable is sweet corn, state pie is pumpkin pie, and the state grain is corn.

Isn’t there some brown horseshoe open face sandwich or something? I used to eat them in Springfield during a 2 week period when I was hiding out from the highway patrol.

In TN, I suppose it’s Barbecue and Nashville Hot Chicken. I’ve been to Nashville dozens of times in my life, and had NEVER heard of it or eaten it. Then KFC offers it, and it’s a national big deal!? I live maybe 90 miles from it and I’m like, what’s hot chicken??? Pit barbecue here rocks and anything fried, especially catfish.

That's the same way I felt about chicken and waffles. My family left England in 1651 and settled in the Carolinas and never left. We were as southern as you can get and no one in my family (on either side) had ever heard of chicken and waffles, this supposed "southern traditional dish"

I do have a friend in Nashville who took me to some straight up ghetto place for some hot chicken. It was the best chicken I've ever had in my life. I wish I knew the name of it. It wasn't Hattie B's, which is the other one he was thinking of taking us to.

I love waffles, and I love fried chicken.

Together, they are just no good to me.

It’s funny how a place you live is “famous” for a dish, but locals don’t know anything about it. I’ve seen on the Food Network the different dives that have the Hot Chicken. I need to try it next time I’m in town.

California produces most of our fruits and vegetables, so it’s no wonder they take pride in their crops. Gov. Gavin Newsom declared avocados as the state fruit, almonds as the state nut, artichokes as the state vegetable, and rice as the state grain. But those symbols only lasted until the end of the year. However, if any of you Californians going fishing this summer, try to catch the official state fish, the golden trout.

The Horseshoe sandwich was invented in Springfield. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horseshoe_sandwich

"The sandwich was created in the late 1920s by chef Joe Schweska at the Leland Hotel in Springfield, Illinois located on the corner of Sixth and Capitol."

I live near Springfield, and drive there everyday for work. Darcy's Pint has the best in town, imo: http://www.darcyspintonline.com/
