    Hey guys
I´m considering putting a finger choil on my Junglas II, as I like it very much on my 6. What do you think? Junglas_II_1.png

    Wouldn't that void your warranty?

Perhaps. Should I decide to grind a choil, and then break it, I probably wouldn't claim a new one. What do you think about modifying the knife? :)

I'd do it if you know how to without messing up the heat treatment. I like choils on large knives for being able to choke up for detail work. I always found it funny that Esee has choils on most of the lineup, yet left it off off their largest offering.

Soon as I finish the current project on my work bench ( another members) I'll be working on a J2 for myself which will include adding a choil.

I've got no truck in the Choil vs. No Choil debate.

But if you're taking the "J" out of "Junglas," that's where I draw the line.

I was considering a small sharpening choil as well. I really like the look and feel of a choil when choking up on a blade, but I am a bit worried that it might compromise the structural integrity of the blade. Then again.. Am I able to break it during normal to semi heavy work? o_O

Imho if you need to choke up on such a big knife, just use a smaller knife for that task.

I made a sharpening choil on my 5 some years ago ears never caused structural issues.

adding a choil would be easy without overheating. Just have to pay attention is all.

As for preference, I like it without.

Pronounce it with a Cockney accent rather than Spanish. You'll be ok.

I ABUSED a J2 with a rip right through the edge over an inch long, and it still wouldnt break. In my experience, as long as a person kept the lade cool, i absolutely do not see a choil weakening the blade to a degree that would be noticable, even with extreme use.

I love the idea of a choil on the Junglas and the J2. As far as just using a smaller knife to do smaller work instead of making the J2 better at smaller tasks- why? If you are using a J2 and you want to do some finer work with it you can, its very much a knife before a machete- and if a choil would help you do it, go for it!

I like choils, and i have never heard an anti choil argument that made sense accept "i dont like it" which is probably the best argument that exists for or against a choil- being which you like.

Thanks for your input Jacob :)
I think that does it for me. I'll add the choil when I have time for it. I agree with you about the J2 having more of a large knife ( "Esee 8" ) than small machete feel to it. And, I saw your videos about it :D
