Halfway through the challenge month. I'm DQ-ing @mtngoat because he has won a challenge before, already has what I'm sending as the prize and he smells like a goat. We have very few contestants so the odds are good!!!
Haven't tried carving anything recently but here are my first two attempts at carving a spoon... First attempt was just a branch I found in the yard and an Izula while sitting around a fire in the yard... Second attempt was made using an Izula and sandpaper. Used a scroll saw just to save a little time. Was cooped up inside during the winter and had to find something to do to keep myself occupied with the extreme cold that we had at the time...
It was a small limb off Paper Birch I found floating in the Tennessee River. That was as much as I could salvage off the limb. I was hoping to be able to saw it somewhat square and draw a pattern, but by the time the soft(water logged) stuff was removed that was left.
The bottom spoon is cedar and the top one is some kind of hardwood that was growing along the river last summer when I did a float trip through the Missouri River breaks.
Last day to enter. Ill get a winner and a prize sent soon. Theres still time to get in on this gents!
