Tried making an insert for my Izzy 2 handles because the plastic one broke and I wanted to see if I could do this before I buck up and buy a new set. Used recently dead dogwood as my material. Forgot I had a chisel until near the end but used the izula 2 for the majority of stock removal. Despite failing I’d like to think I had fun. I thought about getting one of these, but at the time the Herc was only a few dollars more so I said why not

Do you carry it much? How do you like it? I usually have a pliers-based multitool close at hand so I typically see the SAK pliers as added bulk/weight. I would still like to ok try out a WorkChamp though!

I on and off carry it. Rides great on a belt just because it's still relatively light. For now I'm keeping it in a helikon tex kit bag. I wouldn't mind it in the pocket just because I used to carry my ranger that way and the width is about the same. So far I like it, the longer drivers have been pretty handy, and the pliers work on small nuts and wire as they should, and I use them to manipulate the rack in my oven so my food is easier to get too:D. I lucked out and got an older one with the slide lock and I think it's a great lock, they should have kept it. Haven't gotten to really do some cutting with the saw or knife. My critiques so far is maybe slightly enlarge the can and bottle openers; there's about a 1/2" of empty space, and they both feel a tad disproportionate. I don't think it would ever get rid of my ranger just because some of the ranger's back tools have come in very handy, and the 111mm series lack most of these. I saw a workchamp last year for $75 on ebay but I didn't chance it, but I definitely wouldn't mind giving it a shot. I've heard the pliers are better if you look at them as giant tweezers, as well as that they punch above their weight, especially if you combine them with a plier based multi.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I too am a big fan of the slide lock and favor it greatly over the new liner lock models. Although the liner lock models do have the larger bottle openers. Luckily the Outrider I got does have the slide lock. I need to look into getting a belt sheath for it.

I've tried to find a belt sheath for the Herc, but most of the nice ones I've seen (on etsy anyway) seem to be for trekkers and maybe a few outrider sheaths, so you probably won't have as much trouble.
