    Alway fun when these lil diggers wander into camp. Stand still and they will just daddle by like little armored beetles. :) Very cool.

    This was up in Alaska down from Eagle Glacier. It was during the salmon run and I was lucky enough to watch him catch and eat fish for awhile.

    Saw this little guy up on the mountain near where I live. I had saw him before but didn’t have my camera. I actually see him almost everytime I hike that area.

    This is a ptarmigan, state bird of Alaska. Cant remember if this is a male or female. I think it’s a female but I’m not sure.

    Great pics Trailmaster !!!!!! Just great !!!! When i was in Canada i was still shooting 35mm so I should dig a few of those out and scan them.

    On eye to eye contact, yes it is a most interesting feeling, that Lioness in my pics (along with another and two large cubs) were actually stalking me/us when I snapped the pics (there was nothing between us but a dry riverbed). Hard to handle a camera on a tripod and a .375H&H at the same time..!!!! I REALLY didn't want her to have a go at us as I really really didn't want to get eaten nor did I wish to shoot her (or any of the others). In hindsight had she come I would have probably been toast as at that point I didn't know there was a second lioness already on our side of the river and to one side of us.

    Thanks, that means a lot, especially from someone who takes pictures like you do. Yours look straight out of National Geographic! I can’t imagine the lions in Africa, scary but the experience of a lifetime for sure.

    ......I am like a "Japanese Tourist"...snap snap snap...take enough pics and I am bound to snag one or two decent ones. Yours deserve the praise, especially the Raven, that one really caught my eye...!!! I have NEVER taken a decent "bird in flight" pic yet I don't think !!!

    On lions.... yes I was crapping myself !!!! LOL About two days before and 1/2 of Mozambique away another lioness had charged the Nissan Patrol we were driving out in to get dropped off for a hunt (Kudu), she had cubs and we slowed to try and snap a pic, she let out a few roars (no sound like it !!) and we assumed she would follow the cubs into the trees where they were all trotting to, once they were out of sight she spun on us and let out a sound like I have never heard before and came right at the truck..... fortunately it was still running and the driver didn't miss the gear shift and we took off, the two guys standing in the back (it was a pickup) were s#itting bricks as she almost caught us over the first 100yds and was leaping at the vehicle but kept coming up short, then she peeled off. The speed and aggression was what stuck with me, so when I was watching that one through the lens I was actually seeing how the one earlier had behaved..!!!

    Funny story, the night I took that pic I was laying in the hut dreaming that there were lions outside, it wasn't a nightmare just one of those dreams that they were walking around and such, woke up needing a pee and realised it was a dream...lay there for a moment happy that there was no scratching on the door...LOL Ducked outside and hosed down the dirt nearby...then settled in under my mosquito net and lay there for a moment and almost if on que a male started that long "raaaahhhhh rahhh rahh rahh" thing they do just back down on the riverbed below camp.........:confused::confused::D
