it's been a very long time since the last time i posted a trip report...i never stopped hiking or overnighting but just got lazy taking pics...this past weekend i actually have a few decent ones to remember the trip by so might as well share them.

on this trip one of our friends who tried my bob dustrude quick buck saw got addicted to sawing and firecraft in general...i think i might've lured another one from the pure hiking/alcohol stove only world more towards the bushcrafty/cook real food world :)

rainy and cold...chilling with the mad indian...pic credit goes to emily.

It had been a long time! Thanks for posting!!! Any other pictures of the tarp setup? Take more photos as we all rely on your adventures to tide us over to our next time out.

thanks! it's a good way to share food with a lot of people and no mess...i did cheat and brought the bamboo skewers from home but i did all the cutting work at camp...i wasn't going to sit there and whittle sticks for 7 people, haha.

glad you guys like it! this was from a previous trip with reuben, the mad indian and his son but on the same spot...i bring an appropriately-sized tarp depending on the number of people on a particular trip.

when reuben and i hang out we like to drink bourbon and get the fire raging no matter the temp so i opt for a cheap tarp in case the fire gets too close to it :D

on another rainy trip i just brought a 5'x7' since it was only two of us...you can see my hammock setup in the background to the right.

my hammock setup from another rainy trip (i like camping in the rain - the sound of rain drops on the tarp relaxes me)...if it's windy and cold then i just drop the trekking pole and i'm completely sealed in.

That trekking pole idea is gold! Thank you! I like porch mode but like you said that can be an issue in rain or wind. This pole mod is the perfect balance!!!

    thanks!

i try to do at least an overnighter and several day hikes every month but it definitely dropped off last year since it just got ridiculously hot (i tend to go out mostly during the colder months)...mixed with mountain biking.

plus, i really got into motorcycles so there's that :)
