Just got a visit from the knife fairy

Now it’s off to the races, I already have several jobs line up for these from processing chicken and breaking down hog to busting up some frozen apple wood for spoons. Pics to follow.

If you send these overseas, make sure the DBK guys get them. I don’t particularly like the snl style humor but I do like their vids.

First order of business was to wash them since the misses said they weren’t touching her food until I did.

I will say the edge held up better than expected during this test. Usually with the 1095 you have to send the to @Mike Perrin for replacement.

So 2 & 3 removed the legs with no issue

Number 2 went through the sternum with ease, push right through the thin bone and cartlidge.

Number 1 did the same one the other side
    E2A85D4C-E288-440E-A797-3C9ACF57501B.jpeg

I used number 3 to spatchcock through the spine on each side, no issue s here

So after the extreme chicken test I washed them again and finished with some @RedEyedHog Bfat since I don’t know what steels they are I can’t have them rust on me.

More test to come, the little one came down with the flu today so this was all I could do tonight.

This is a really cool way to test knives.
Can’t wait to see more as this progresses.

No doubt....we may even let it jump the pond after the Canuks have a go at it.....I just could not risk losing them at the boarder until my task was accomplished!

No doubt...it would be curious to see what they had to say!

Extremely generous offer @shaneadams90 , esp after my original post. To be frank, I have no time to test knives - work is getting way too BUSY......but please make sure @Reno Lewis / @Switchblade / @Klynesquatch / @McKROB and other up here get a chance.

I'm truly interested to see what each user has to say about these 3 blades. Also, I want fried chicken for dinner.

Couldn't resist. Would it help if I said I wish Tim Hortons would buy out Dunkin Donuts?:p

So, who's going to be the first to try and juggle the knives?

In all seriousness, cutting fiberglass-reinforced gummed tape will be an experiment of mine. I find most low-alloy steels blunt almost immediately on that stuff, so it'll be valuable for assessing what they're made of.

If it was mentioned anywhere, I may have missed it--are all three different steels, or are they all the same kind?

The metallurgical make of these blades is unknown...that's all I know.....I have my suspicions based on our conversations but will NOT divulge any opinion till @Patrick Rollins and I get to use them at the end....We are on a need to know basis even....and right now we don't need to know! Lol...

If I had to guess the metallurgical make up of these knives my first bet would be metal, they are definitely not made of wood. All kidding aside while at home with a sick kiddo today I decided it was time to break down an 8lb pork tenderloin into roasts and chops.

While it’s not amazon tape #1 went through the plastic very well 27EC24D7-E7F9-4EF2-9A09-BD844BAFF28F.jpeg
1 did a good job removing silver skin

    2 also did well
    F65DD093-9BC4-4DDD-A5FF-C0493BF4E85E.jpeg

    3 did equally as good as 1 & 2

All three were washed and another of @RedEyedHog bday was applied as it is my standard knife practice.

That stuff is an edge killer.
I think using the tape would be a much better and quicker than those tests using repeated cuts through rope.

@shaneadams90 any way I can get bumped towards the back of the list? A couple things happened all at once for me and I doubt I'll see any woods time before spring.

when the person above you contacts you to ship....make your decision then....if you can't take it tell them to skip you and go to the next person...I plan to mark people off the list in the main thread as it progresses....as it nears the end you can let me know how your schedule looks and I can add you back or leave you off....it will be your call then....

Can I make a silly sounding test request?

If someone has access, would you cut the nylon wrap off a round bale? Plunge knife in, and pull across bale.
Plays hell with some knives. It may be our binding material, I don't know...but my 4 holds up better to it than Case and Kershaw blades being used.

I know, silly, but common knife usage here that dulls blades. Picking hooves might be a good test too.
