Heading up to the North Ga mountains this weekend for some camping. It's supposed to be very cold(for Ga anyways) with rain/snow in the forecast.

Normally I just make a simple tarp shelter and call it a day. This weekend I was thinking about making a tarp teepee and even having a small fire inside. Has anyone ever done this with regular tarps? I have a pretty wide selection of tarps at my disposal including large canvas to heavy duty tarps like you would cover a boat with and everything in between.

Anyone done this before and got some pictures?

Are you using a small wood stove, or just thinking of having a pit fire inside the teepee?

Traditional style with the fire in the middle more than likely.

Ok, then I would just say make sure you have lots of headroom and a good smoke hole. And let us know how it goes!

I will make it a point to take pictures. I usually never document my trips but I’ll work on that.

Depending on size I may have to use a couple tarps. One of my larger ones is an Etowah Outfitters tarp. It’s going to have to house 3 guys so it may be a little large.

If you Googlize "tarp tipi fire" some interesting videos results show up that might give some ideas.

Great idea. If it wasn’t just me as a pack mule I would take a seek outside (I think that’s the brand I looked at lol) teepee and a titanium wood stove all winter long. Definitely report back on how it goes... with pics. ;)

So I ended up getting some material to make an improvised wood stove for inside the teepee. I'm thinking have it at a side wall will make it roomier for the three of us that have to fit inside.
