So @Bushman5 sent me his Cold Steel Colossus to test out and I figured I'd start an on going review as I test it out. First impressions: Holding this thing put a smile on my face, I must have a soft spot for ridiculously large impractical folders. The fit and finish is what you would expect in its price range. Being that the handle is so large it makes for a variety of very secure but comfortable grips. It is a bit awkward to open with one hand but I suppose the wave makes up for that First outing: This thing is no edc blade that's for sure so I decided to take it to the woods. It fits in the pocket very well especially considering its size and barely noticed it the couple hours I was out I decided to try a fuzz stick out and was surprised how well it did. The edge on this is great for slicing and I'm very impressed with the CTS XHP. I also did a little chopping and while it's no junglas it could certainly get by on small green wood So far I would say it's a great knife for a hiking or woods time More to come as I use it some more
more more!!!! how did you find sharpening the CTS-XHP steel? im curious what the knife sharpening pros use on this steel....
I used my dmt folding stones and it wasn't too bad, seems to strop alright too I'll get some more up this week
IMO Cold Steel's 2 best knives are The full tang Bushman and Kudu. I own 2 of each. I do like some of their products like their Samburu spear I own. I wish Esee would make a 3 piece throwing spear and a few more folding pocket knife styles as I own a Zacundo and Avispa that has pretty much became my favorite work knives.
