You gentlemen have some great archery gear. I grew up reading any and everything related to Fred Bear. My first bow was a Bear Kodiak around 1968, I think. I have my 1971 Bear Mag (B riser with #3 limbs at 30 lbs.) And a 2015 wood A riser and 42 lb limbs. Love the takedowns.

I do like the whole takedown thing. The ability to change limbs for certain tasks yet be the same fit in hand every time. There is a Martin takedown I like at the local shop but wifey says NO! Hiding a new knife is one thing but a 5 foot plus bow is another thing.

I tried an atlatl once. Foreseen shoulder surgery in my future if I kept it. I'm getting worn out.

Funny I'm just the opposite, finding the atlatl to be less hurt on me.

I'm sure that my problem with the atlatl is a serious lack of experience and finesse. Finesse being key and not trying to strong arm it.

That is spot on, it's all about finesse which comes with practice practice practice.

Today I broke out the take down recurve I bought at Cabela’s a few years ago. I’ve taken a couple doe with it but switched to a crossbow due to shoulder issues when they made them legal here in WV.
It was fun just letting a few go in the front yard on a sunny day. The best I can say about my prowess is that I didn’t miss the target cube from twenty yards. :D We’ll see how things develop with practice and ibuprofen.

    Good stuff!!!
What's the info on those bows?
I just spent 5 days in Petaluma CA at the Western States Traditional Rendezvous. Picked up a new Liberty Bows Sherwood 68" longbow. 44# @ 28" but I draw 30.5" so Allen Boice (the bowyer) said that I'm probably pulling around 52#. It is such a sweet smooth shooter. I shoot 3D.
Best part about that bow is that it's the last of its kind to leave his shop. No longer makes the Sherwood.

Got sent a couple of pics of Julia's new bow. Mainly Tiger Myrtle. Still in the final finish process.
