Great piece of gear! Nice pics too. I recently got one of those Swiss Borde Kochers too, use it with an alcohol stove made from a sodacan inside. Mostly because it gives less soot on the cup and bottle when cooking, and also I've read reports of the thing melting when having a woodfire inside....
Yeah, alcohol burners are good with them but the smell puts me off. I’d rather use my small gas stove if I’m doing that and, if I’m using wood, I can use it indefinitely when out in the bush. Either way, a great bit of kit and massively underused. I sprayed mine with stove enamel and it made it much more hardwearing!
Subscribed, but I didn't get notice of new updates for the last 7.4089 kyrs. Plus caught up in a big project to FIRE my future. So I'm behind reading. Will try to get caught up ... but could be 14.8161 kyrs. I'll get back to you.
Productive little play on our weekend away! The CR2.5 has proven itself comfortably already! Really digging it and the spark that the BO finish throws! Me and my buddy (he’s not joined the forum yet!) had a hoot! Titan SurvivorCord is GREAT stuff! Pulled it apart for the waxed jute which works really well in the nest! That technique from all those ‘Ray Mears Bushcraft Courses’ paying off! Lock that hand on that shin! Ember in no time! Great fun!
Didn’t know my buddy had taken this! Was working up a real sweat! He very rightly pointed out that sweating on the ember is a bad thing!
OK, three more words for now. Tramontina 14" Bolo(s) Yeah, I know, the second word is a number in inches. Most important two words: Tram bolo(s). The story is elsewhere, but it/they are my key to fire. ______ Ok. Now, it's really late. The temps up here are dropping into the 20's F. I'm in base camp, and am heading for some serious insulation for sleep. I'll get back to you ...
