    synthetic grease!

on the BOTTOM headset cups, install a 1" piece of mountain bike tube, like a sleeve over the outside of the headset cup. This will keep 99% of moisture and salt OUT. (Does require fork removal....)

Using a hose on your bike is not a good thing. You can force water into the bearings which results in pushing the lubricants out. Even though it requires time and effort a full break down is the best way to clean your bike. Once you get the hang of it it does become a lot easier to do and your bike will ride like a dream every time.

I get to take care of these for most of the year. And they get washed w/ lots of water and suds every day, which is not a problem if you know what you're doing ;)

All I got for now after another long day in the studio. (Video coming ...)

This forum both rocks and pedals.

This image is from circa 2012. The bike now wears Jones Loop Bars.
It's sitting in my kitchen (in a tiny apt) because it's winter now: no riding.
(Only because the road salt corrodes my drive chain, and I don't own a fat tire.)

@Wolfman Zack has the fat tire over in Bangor.

Scenario? Mid-Maine, on an ATV trail in summer, crossing a creek that flows into a large lake.

When I was courier in Vancouver in the winters , I would literally spray down the entire bike with PB Blaster penetrating oil, let it soak thru the salt and the grime, then wipe it off with a rag. Also liberally sprayed it inside all the tubes and all the bosses (all hollow). 27 years later still have that bike.

That's a rolltop framebag made by Rogue Panda (the handlebar bag, stem bag and mini panniers are made by RP as well). Great quality gear, made in AZ. ;)
