Yes, they're being produced for us by Imacasa/Condor like the Baryonyx Machete was.

Finally got the info we needed and I just need to do some number crunching before listing them for preorder. Should be up within a week. :)

Didn't stay asleep all night -- going on 0300 here (leg cramps after a long bike ride yesterday) -- so found this update. Again, even though this isn't at the top of my list -- an iMac maxxed out for video production is at the top, and there are a number of other items below it and above one of these -- but it IS on my (interest) list.

Question. Not sure if this was addressed earlier in the thread (I didn't see it this morning when I was scanning back through): what's that little thingee above the spine forward of the scales? Looks like a large bottle opener the design for which didn't quite get finished. Or maybe a convenient hook to hang it up while the zombie blood drips off the blade.

Yup. It's a rear guard that can be used to pin a blade with a twist. It's borrowed from some European glaive/partizan polearms. Parries across the body are the slowest and you don't want a blade sliding off your guard (by accident or deliberately) and hitting you regardless of your attempt to parry. Locking a blade with a twist gives an opportunity to close distance to grapple in order to wrest the weapon from their grip entirely.

That makes sense (at least as much as possible for a person with zero sword training -- even though I gave it serious consideration before coming to Maine; one of the most famous medieval sword trainers in the US lived in the city in Oregon where I lived for ten years. But I never got to it. Figured I have enough trouble with concealed carry of guns, and a sword would just be that much more challenging.

And of course, I was being partly tongue-in-cheek. I remembered you wrote upstream in this thread that it's technically classed (designated? categorized?) as a machete (and thus might be legal for me in Scotland, was the thinking).

But from your descriptions of it as a zombie SD tool, and since this assumes that said zombinos will be armed with blades (da'yum, there's a new sci fi/horror genre: zombies with swords  ), I suspect the inspectors at the gate in Glasgow may raise an eyebrow.

Of course, that doesn't change the fact that I want one. :D

Yeah, not for zombies. The usual zombie tropes dictate different weapon choice. :p

Good question, @erik. I honestly don't remember -- over ten years ago -- but let me do some digging, and I think I can find out.

They're now up for pre-order. Rock-bottom intro pricing lasts for the first 200x units. The "normal" price shown is MSRP, and so street price will be roughly $42 and change, which isn't much more than we'd initially projected. After the first 200x are gone there will be a slightly lesser discount for folks buying 3x or more. :)

As previously noted, those are the project on the "to do" list AFTER the Kingfisher. :)

Already only 131 left of the 200x that'll be at the steep discount pricing. 34.5% gone. :)

Still thinking about one of these.

I have a very large (HUGE) list of needs right now,
most of which relate to my professional project (new company in the works).

(Translation: I have zero discretionary funds.)

My biggest needs for blades are more pedestrian (I'm replacing my hatchet.)

Still, something about this be-otch calls to me.

Question: does it come with a sword fighting manual?

I'll get back to you ...

Hahaha--no manual, though it would be well-suited to a variety of different stylistic approaches.
