I've been wanting to make a pair of these. I think I'm going to give it a shot later this year.

This is awesome I ordered some leather for this... you have great skill. Do you think making the wood form from a current pair of shoes would work?? Also saw your tanning post I want to try that with the next deer, didn’t have luck this year.

i had an idea for making your own almost free goop with rubber bits.....

get a cheap blender from a thrift store, cut up some old bike tire treads into small chunks and blend it coarse.....then screen to whatever size you want and mix with barge cement or whatever.

The dust could make a binder for your pitch glue.... would that make it rubber cement?

Did you ever get around to making any?

The wood form is not traditional. I just came up with that idea. You could use a pair of soles, House shoes, or flip flops. Flip flop soles Wouk probably work better than the wood form.
    Good luck on your venture.

Where did you order leather from?

Nice work! I've been wanting to do this for several years, but never got around to it. In my head, it just seems too difficult.

Fantastic. Look forward to seeing some pics along the way.

Mud, with your skills you have to go for it. You could even start with a pattern like this one...

Sadly, no. We moved right before that, and had a baby in August. I've just recently unpacked my leather working tools from our move a year and a half ago.

Organizing a shop that I just had built and working on the property has consumed most of my "man" time lately.

No I still haven’t sourced the soles. I want to hand select them. I either need to go to tandy in St. Louis or wait for a rendezvous

Great Job! I always wanted to make some and put tiretreads on the bottom for protection and durability. I was gonna grab a couple pieces of the blown up tire pieces i see on the side of the road and use those.

Tire tread shoes are the real deal in South America. I have seen them for sale at street vendors, and have seen many people wearing them. More of a flip flop style though.
