So I've been known to stop on the street or to take a detour across a parking lot if I think I see a cool truck. Of course at Expo and other events it's totally normal to snap shots of other people's trucks. So in the spirit of "check this out" let's see some shots of cool rigs we don't own.

I spotted this Willys just down the road from my post office. I think it's about 1954.

Here's my buddy's van Boomer. That's the vans name, not my buddy. This thing is engineered to 9's.

This series 2 Rover in NC a few years ago was sweet. Check out those skinny sand ladders.

I call this one "Tacoma for Scale". That Unimog 406 is ridiculous, but in a good way.

I have a few more but I'll hold on posting those. However, I'm curious if anyone can ID this strange bird that I spotted at some random roadside car/farm equipment lot.

The first forum member to post a shot of a cool rig that isn't theirs (gotta keep with the spirit of the thread) and also ID the truck in the pic above will get an Overland themed patch & sticker pack.

You're right, a BJ212 if I'm not mistaken. It was down the road from work for about a week. I never saw price or anything. The interior was beyond gone. It looked like it had sat through a lot of rain storms sans top.

How about I just bring those stickers and patches to Bushcraft?

Nice Cruiser by the way. Troopie, right?

Sounds good. I'll find another obscure rig in my collection and post it up.

I knew a guy with a Troopie here in the states, but he blew it up. I was pretty gutted and it wasn't even mine.

You are not alone. It was a swing out propane grill, a crazy good suspension, and tons (probably literally) of custom add-ons and what not.

@shaneadams90 that 2.8 retrofit from TAV is sick.

Also, I want to point out that last Defender is rocking Pelican cases and a Trasharoo right next to cheapo ratchet straps and something wrapped in a black trash bag. That's awesome.

.....it's one of the few times I think Africa get a better version of something than us here. The 7o series Toyotas there are still supplied with the naturally aspired 1HZ 4.2l 6 cyl diesel engine. Out here they are only available with the 4.5l V8 turbo diesel. The V8 is great....it runs like a raped ape (Godson has a table top) but it is 1) thirsty and 2) freaking expensive to repair if there is an issue. The 1Hz engine has been around now since the early late 80s and has built a reputation for reliability and longevity, though you need to understand it will not get you from point A to point B on the highway in the same time as a V8 version, hand in glove it was use about 2/3s of the fuel of the V8 for the same trip Once off the road those differences are very academic. My 80 Series has the 1Hz and I love it. I am patient when I drive it though. I am actually doing the maths on importing a 76 Series "Short Troopie" from South Africa with the 1HZ. So far (assuming a second hand purchase) I can get into it all included for a little over 1/2 the price of the comparable V8 version on the road here.

    Circa '68.

I drove my rig out to the lake with the canoe and did some fishing.
Bream and bass was what I was after.

My dad and I built that rig out of two junkers
with the help of a family friend mechanic.
It was my first motorized vehicle.
