    Modded my Husqvarna forest axe and Gransfors Bruks American felling axe. Torched the handles, oiled, then whip wrapped overstrike collars. I made the collar on the husqvarna larger to aid in choking up on the axe for different grips.

    Built this (except for the lashing rings) simply because I refused to pay 450 dollars for a commercial one.

    $450??? Must be lots of insurance for liability. That is just a few pieces of aluminum.

    Agreed. At least from a consumer standpoint on my part. Olive wood just looks inviting. Has the appearance of being smooth as silk.

    I agree.
    It has that feel in hand as well. Works nicely, but requires new/sharp sandpaper.
