So i have a couple of questions about the black oxide finish...

    1) @Jeff Randall is probably the man to answer this, but I'm curious if there are any plans to expand the finish to other models like the junglas or others in the regular line? I've been very interested in a junglas or junglas 2 lately and having a black oxide version would seal the deal.(scales like the pr4 would seal the deal on both haha)

    2) what is the best way to get rid of the black residue left on food from the finish. My cleaver is getting better the more I wash it but still leaves it on raw meat

    Thanks

1). So the simple answer is yes....we do plan to expand our offerings...where and when are still being determined. The coating has been well received.

2). USE it......if you see @Expat clever or @Patrick Rollins PR4 you see a coating that is vastly different. Aside from wiping down and oiling that may help significantly as well..

I love the black oxide finish on my PR4. I like that I can use it for a ferro rod, I have my fire striker for that. I would like to see it on the izula II and the laser strike as they are my other favorites. I can’t wait for the carving axe because of the finish as well. I think having a service to strip and refinish an ESEE would be cool. I have 3 izula II so I would send one in lol. I love my normal ESEE finish but I like having the spine for shaving bark or fat wood for a tinder ball. Love everything you do.

@BlueDogScout there used to be members that would provide those services, but I’m not sure how active they are now.

That’s pretty cool, I’m too afraid I’ll screw something up some how. Maybe someone will chime in

It is doubtful that we will offer a refinish option...however there are MANY that strip and force patina their blade. YouTube is full of videos like THIS ONE that take you through the process. Not difficult at all and you can make it your own depending on how you choose to do the patina.

Can imagine this being the only coating available in the future.
Cheap and no friction in knife application for the end user.
    Makes sense

It will be a while before we swap other models over.

No decision yet. Thought about doing it on some other models but haven't decided when, which ones, etc.

I guess that swapping them over in one go would be a major headache and would put your stockers under pressure to buy a whole new stock. Doing that gradually makes sense.

I think the laser strike is a logical start, designed for fire starting, a good 90 spine as a striker... plus I would love one in that finish lol

If i may delve into the hypothetical @Jeff Randall .
As an example.. if i have a dt4 and all future 4s was black oxide coated and i made a waranty claim would the warranty state replaced with closest product available to the defunct sku?

We always hold some stock back for warranty claims but should we be out then we would give out as close of a replacement as possible, or give you a good eBay link to buy a counterfeit one.

Wanted to see if anyone knew if there were any updates on the Black Oxide finish being offered on other models. Particularly interested having the 4 and/or 6 in the new finish.

    @defnaru

No updates on the expansion of Black Oxide at the moment....we've had a LOT of irons in the first this year in our gear up for Blade show....we can only roll out some many new/revised products at once and not inundate our dealers...

    Patience....all in good time!
