It's so damn ridiculous you can't! I'm sure there's places in the US it'd get me odd looks from folks that can't mind their own business. There's a lot wrong with Louisiana and Mississippi, but no pressure about hiking and carrying what I want while doing so makes me overlook a lot.

That's my wife and my favorite hangout spot at the deercamp in Mississippi. The pic's taken off our hammock. My son and I built the fire ring with rocks we pulled out the adjacent creek over the course of a couple weekends one summer.

I always have a knife or two and my g19 in an HPG Heavy Recon bag with their Med Pocket on the front. ....I love this bag and the modularity of it. I'm running of their trigger guard "holsters" on the inside. This pack carries well stripped down or with it loaded out...

In the pic below I'm running it with an HPG Tarahumara back pack.

Depends a lot on what I'm doing. Where I live, we have every type of large 4-legged predator found in N. America (minus polar bears) out my back door. So I pretty much always have bear spray with me, whether hiking or mtn biking, Spring - Fall. In the winter, I usually don't carry bear spray, though I suppose it could come in handy if I run across a cat or a pack of wolves.

If I'm biking I'll also generally have a small folder with me.

Hiking/backpacking I'll usually have a larger folder or fixed blade and firearm, usually in my HPG kit bag.

Regardless, there is one offensive/defensive adventure tool I try to never leave home without. It's gotten me out of more situations than any of those other things (though it also seems to require more maintenance ;)):

.....new Zealand was 10 days moving between a forestry hut and bivvy, Africa was 10 days but in grass huts etc. Out here that depends, the two places we spend most time we have old homesteads or shearer's quarters to base out of, even on these places we will pack out for a few nights at a time. In the parks and such, three to five nights, or as a mate says...."lets pull a quick over-nighter and get one night in beside a fire". Water is often the most difficult part of planning out here. Especially in the west as there is, especially at this time of year, NO running water AT ALL to be had.

I need a .357 revolver, I've recently felt like my collection's lacking a revolver and a lever action.

This is a stunning, and concerning, admission that needs to be rectified asap.

Not intending for this to be a political post. From '08-'16 as I had expendable funds I was buying the semi auto rifles and handguns I wanted first just in case another ban would be enacted. Got that under wraps so the next rifle I buy will be a Marlin 1895SBL 45/70 like @ManOfSteel has to accompany my 45/70 single shot. As far as the revolver I'm clueless right now as to what I want other than it being a .357mag at the minimum since I mainly want it for hunting.

Man with all the hoops it seems y'all have to deal with there along with the firearms y'all can't have there I'll gladly let ya have some high ground!

HK45 with 11rds of .45+P. And whatever belt knife I have. Generally a CPK FK or HDFK.

    I plan on upgrading to a .44mag or Delta Elite 1911 10mm

Got it from a pawn shop a few years ago for $800. Including 2 boxes of Hornady ammo. The original grip is preserved in a box since this Delta gets used:D
