Ordered, and today received a Red Rock Large Rover sling bag. Have the regular sized one, (Review: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/red-rock-rover-sling-bag-photo-heavy.855133/#post9681572) and recently discovered they made a larger model. A bit more room never hurts. They also make other model sling bags as well. The "regular" size Rover bag is 8"W x 12"H x 6"D, and the "large" bag I just received is 9"W x 15"H x 9"D. So, 13 liters, as compared to the the regulars 9 liters.

    Other specs:

    Ambidextrous shoulder strap
Quick-release buckle on main strap for rapid deployment
    On-the-go style carry handle
Snap-closure concealed-carry sleeve on back panel
Two external pockets for quick access to items
Master compartment houses a slip pocket with touch-fastener closure
Master compartment accommodates an iPad or other popular tablets
MOLLE webbing platform on front and shoulder strap for adding pouches and gear
    600D polyester construction

    A few photos.

    In the bag:

Out of the bag. Some of the photos were dark, so I had to lighten them up a bit, hence why the logos aren't showing up on the tags too well:

Front zippered pouch. Nice, deep pocket, but a bit unusual, in the sense that it goes down on each side of the drain hole, which is made for the pocket behind it:

Next compartment behind the last. Organizational area:

Small compartment above it. More organization:

Sleeve for iPad, or the like:

Other side. A small zippered pouch/flap:

That lifts up to reveal another pouch:

This is my older, smaller one, just for an idea of the size. I'm 6'2" for reference:

Hoping this will be a decent pack. I have had a few problems with the smaller pack. One of the webbing on the shoulder strap has come undone on one side, even though I've never used it for anything. Also, once I had a 38oz Guyot bottle filled with water, in the bottle carrier, slung the pack around to my back, and the strap came undone. The stitching, that is. My wife sewed it back on with military thread, and I haven't had any problems with it since. I have used the smaller version on several outings, and overall it's done well. Not Maxpedition quality by any means, but a 3rd the price.

    Thanks for looking.

Thanks man. I primarily purchased this for a small BOB to keep in my truck, but will more than likely take it on a few outings. If nothing else, to see how it feels/carries, etc.

Took the gear out of the regular bag, and put it in the new. Added a few items as well. Nice having the extra room:

    I use mine when traveling.
Works good at the airport, quick to take on and off.

I have the original smaller size.

I'm gonna use my small one for a go to work edc bag. You know, Tylenol, band aids, protein bars, etc.

That's what I'm going to do with the larger one. Sort of a BOB, yet still use it on outings.

How does the new bag relate in size to the maxed noatak?

Large Rover is 9"W x 15"H x 9"D, or 13 liters, compared to the Noataks 10"(L) x 5.5"(W) x 14.5"(H), or 8 liters. The smaller Rover is 9 liters. I bought a Noatak once, but the strap was too short for me. Also, the Noatak's strap was mounted on the upper, side portion, where the Rover's strap is located in the middle. This seems to work better for me. Like stated earlier, however, Red Rock's quality can't compete with Maxpeditions.

Here's a photo I took of the Noatak compared to the original, smaller version Rover:

The strap on my Noatak seemed shorter then I thought it should be. I added the Janus pouch with its extension strap. Now it’s almost too much even with the main strap clinched down. I had high hopes for the Noatak but kinda misses the mark for me.

Definitely too short. I never thought about the extension strap.

There's another slinger on Amazon I'm kind of wanting, haha. No reviews on it yet, but if nothing else, it's a nice looking bag:

Looks like what a goruck slinger bag would look like. Cool!

Indeed. $35, I'll probably end up with one. Very few photos on Amazon for it, and no reviews. No reviews on youTube that I could find either. OneTigris makes one that looks just like it.
