I fancied a hike today. I've not been out as much as I would have liked to recently. I needed to get some exercise and clear my head. Nothing puts things in perspective like some time in the wilderness. Total length of the hike was only 4 miles, which took me 1.5 hours, plus time messing about taking photos etc. The weather was dull, overcast and turning to snow. The conditions seem to lend themselves to some black and white photos.
I knew winter was bleak in the UK but I didn't realise all colour was stolen during the season.... B&W is actually one of my favourite types of photography but I just don't do it enough. It makes the eye see the detail in the pics not just the pretty colours, it also captures something deeper in people portraits that colour does not..!
