That’s very impressive work with a FFG knife brother

Thanks mate I give it a go occasionally for something to do other than notches and pointy sticks for poking :)

The more we practice the better the we get. I try to do something with my woods knife every day. Whether it be feather stick, prepare food, baton kindling. Or little projects like carving and detailing a walking stick. I feel it keeps my in tune with my most precious tools. The knife is what seperates humans from our ancestors. It allowed us to carve a path to civilization.

Many “scandi” grinds come from the factory very slightly hollow. Some people put more in emphasis in the find than they do the practice which is obvious by this thread is the most important thing. The folks here post amazing feathers and curls. Things of sheer beauty. With all kinds of knives and grinds. It’s all about the practice. Again, good job brother

Lots of different tools can make great Feather sticks. I think it's about the skill and control of the person making them and not just the specification of the tool. Understanding how the gain of the wood works helps as well.

Great points! I've done some nice ones at work with a wood chisel out of boredom. I learned a lot from trying things you suggested both here and on the edc forum while you were there. Always enjoy your pics man! Happy Holidays!

Thanks Nate, that's appreciated and encouraging. It's a craft that I haven't been very disciplined at practicing (woodcraft skills in general to be honest) and I'd like to change that. I could've made it easier on myself and picked a softer wood. Either that or perhaps I should've requested muscles for Christmas. That single stick I carved had my arm cramping up and tapping out.
