I’m in no hurry, I’ll wait this one out. I’ve almost bought one on the secondary market several times but decided to wait for my starter to show up...
MAIL CALL from TYR TACTICAL! lower back roll pouch (its HUGE) - pictured with Silky BigBoy saw for size reference), and two micro pouches more pics on the L.R.R.P.R. page
Picked up another Summit climber. The Viper SD is 5lbs lighter than my current 180 Max and a bit more compact. I figure the weight savings and space savings will help me for early season hunting when the extra weight is going to make me sweat more when it’s warm out.
New AIWB holster and mag pouch for the P-07 from Muddy River Tactical. Can't say enough good things about these folks - placed a custom order on Monday and had them in my hands by Friday, shipped from MO to ID. Great quality and good prices too.
With the onset of winter, I often need to not only carry a laptop and a few necessities, but also a puffy jacket, gloves, hat, etc. and my laptop bag just ain't built for that kind of capacity. So, I've been looking for a simple, well-built, commuter day pack for a while now. Something without a bunch of overkill organizational pockets, etc - basically just a top-loading nylon bucket with an inner laptop sleeve and a small lid pocket. The Mystery Ranch 'Robo Flip' ticked all the boxes.
i wanted a bigger/better EDC/trucking bag, one that i could also use on local populated trails without freaking people out like the L.R.R.P.R. webbing does. i needed a very organized WORK bag , for the truck. needed to hold my TGD / HAZMAT reference manual, FAK (personal/bleed), headlamp, hard hat , water etc. Also got it for 20% off due to Direct Actions Nov 11 discount sale. https://us.directactiongear.com/packs-and-bags/backpacks/ghost-backpack#61 (urban grey - though its more green) Should be here in three weeks (thanks Canada post )
True to his word my local gun pusher saved me one of the few Magpul bipods he was able to get. I have not put in the field yet but just fumbling around with it I am impressed with the features for the money. In comparing to my Atlas it lacks in number of leg positions with only 90 degrees available while the Atlas will do 45 degrees in either direction. The Atlas has a little less wiggle in it but not a great deal of difference and not one I think will matter. It uses the same feet as my Atlas but requires a roll pin to be driven out instead of a steel plunger so no quick changing of feet in the field. The biggest plus I see is the Magpul beats the Atlas on pan and tilt, Atlas V8 has 15+/- degrees of pan and tilt while the Magpul has 25 +/- degrees tilt and 20+/- degrees pan. The tension for pan and tilt is easily adjusted and seems very stout. I also prefer the leg deployment on the Magpul, it just flips down while with the Atlas you have to depress the plunger for any movement. Height adjustment on the legs is positive and firm, I think I prefer the button activation over the pull the collar on the Atlas, seems more ergonomic, easier to accomplish with one hand. Considering I could buy nearly 3 of the Magpul's for one Atlas if it holds up as well as the Atlas then it's a winner for sure.
the guy that we hired to repair/weld our roll off bins , gave me a shop tour today. He is like @ManOfSteel , but an aussie, and right here in BC Canada . his doggos love me, they got mega scratchies today. anyways, Nick is going to do some fab work for me..........im tired of thieves, so a custom heavy duty steel strongbox behind the seats of Dads Mazda, is in the works . This will allow me to carry basic tools, supplies , fire extinguisher, FAK, etc and stow my L.R.R.P.R. webbing etc. I have designed some extremely effective anti theft storage boxes, two which are one my buddies work truck. 10 years and never a theft from the job boxes.....and believe me the scum thieves have tried Nick is very happy to help me out and looks forward to working with me on my design. call it a "very soon" purchase.
