We decided to check out a trailhead across the valley that, in 12 years of living here, we've never explored.

A mellow cruise through the forest for a mile or so, and then the trail turned sharply uphill and out of the woods into more open country.

This HPG rig, along with a Runner's Kit Bag, worked perfectly.

    Cool host stump:

    Map check:

The moderate temps and rain we've had these past few weeks have kept the wildflowers going up high:

Any guesses what side of the tree we're looking at?

Sideways hail started coming in, but we pushed on a little farther in search of a view into the drainage to the north.

Clouds continued gathering, and as we hit the exposed ridge, the rain and hail came down in earnest. Good place to turn around, but with lots of ideas for more explorations in this part of the range....;)

Riding @ Grand Targhee today. Couldn't have been more perfect - temps in the low 60's, trails tacky as could be from recent rains. It was the ideal Sunday....

Normally, I believe in earning my turns, but rules are meant to be broken now and then. 800' of climbing followed by 2700' of descending was exactly what I needed after work today...

Went for a hike in the southern Tetons this afternoon. Never got high enough to get any big views, but it was a fine stroll all the same...

Made up for my shuttle run the other day with a ride that featured 2400' of climbing in the first 6 miles, and one of my favorite rides in the area:

My jealousy of you guys that live out near the Rockies, Tetons, etc that whole swath, knows no bounds... My grandfather (God rest his soul) lived in Montana for many years, and I loved it out that way.

The building on the left is an old Hydro-Electric plant they put back in service a few years ago.
    For making many electricities.
