Didn't see this one til it came out of the back end of the lawnmower, unscathed though. I am thinking fox snake but would appreciate a positive identification.

That's a lucky snake. No clue about ID.

Looks like an eastern hog nose. A very light color phase.

My wife found this guy by almost stepping on him while hiking/walking by a cabin we stayed in up in the Blue Ridge Mountains earlier this year. Never rattled, and I decided to just shoo him away from the roadside, as there's not a ton else in the area yet.

That's a copperhead, not a species of Rattlesnake. If he rattled, that would have been quite the find! ;):D

They do have rattle envy AEB shaking their tail frantically when scared.

Well consider me more knowledgeable about snakes then. While I've had a Ball Python as a pet, I had always lumped Copperheads in with rattlesnakes in general, not even sure why or where that came from.

I've seen corn snakes do this too. Dry leaves or grass will get the heart rate up when you find one of them outside. :)

Absolutely. A lot of snakes do this, but none sound quite the same as that rattle buzzing away!

Found this beaut on my patio yesterday morning. My first thought was water moccasin but long tail, round pupil ( which I failed to get a decent pic of)... I think water snake..black rat snake maybe? Very non aggressive/ docile. Even when moved from cover with a wood staff would not coil or try to bite, just tried to get back behind or under something.

Looks like a northern water snake. Hard to be certain with the picture, but that's my best guess.
