this is why you do not wear long sleeves around spinning machinery. Its also why you supervise the junior shop hand! your supposed to hold the emory paper or polishing cloth underneath the spinning metal, openhanded......

Buddy sent me a pic of a pile of corrugated plastic panels he found in the woods.

What to use these for? Gimmie some ideas !

    About 2.5' x 5' size, approx 1/4" thick, and about 100+

May just be me, but why wouldn't that first guy hit the stop switch right when he ran up?!

Would make some nice target backings. We use the old campaign signs that are made of that material.

DAMN!!! This made me wince a few times and of course I found the full video from LiveLeak....which of course led me down an even worse YouTube rabbit-hole (DO NOT search for 'Savage Lathe Accident' on youtube).

This is why I rarely even wear gloves when working with ANY rotating or power tools (drills, saws/sawzalls, grinders, lathes, sanders etc.): Sure, I might get a few calluses, nicks, cuts, bruises and splinters, but I'm sure as hell not going to get my gloves, sleeves, or baggy clothing wrapped-up in that sh*t!

Stay safe out there folks! ;)

A random find like that would concern me...
BUT I think you could probbably use them to build a portable shelter of some form. I think I have seen clear sheets similar to that used in small greenhouses.

Not sure if it would work as intended. But you could take a inexpensive space blanket cut it up and attach it to one or both sides for added insulation/ tenpature factor.

You could also cut them into 16 in squares and stack them to make target backs OR stack say 10 inches worth and make a Archery target.

curious as to why a find like that would concern you? (i mean i think they have been dumped)

I like the shelter shingle idea...they would need to be spray bombed with matte green paint though....

In a serious context I would say that #1 they appear to have some type of sequential numbering to them. #2 there appears to be a odd set of circular impression across them. So as there appears to be no obvious signs what they may have been previously used for I would be concerned about possibly contamination issues. I say this because I use to work ina toxic waste area and we would use kinda similar material and other more rigid foam as over pack to protect the waste during storage and transport... Not saying that is what those are BUT that is the first thing that popped into my head...

On a not so serious note isn’t a little freaking weird to find something like that in the woods?? Especially since the numbers may correspond to dates it looks like there is serious amount of growth around it.. So how the heck did it get there :)

Fairly......they are your standard corrugated plastic sheet like you get from home depot, except they are custom size

Can you approximate the number (+/- 25) so we can get a better idea of the total surface area?

I'm pondering this project in my idle moments ... and I'm trying to increase the number of those ...

    Or a bike trailer.. ..

There is a lot of material to work with. Probably going to go up with a buddy and retrieve it all.

We use larger versions as target backers on a makeshift range. They DO deteriorate pretty quickly out in the sun, after maybe 2 years they are so brittle they are easily broken.
